Vacancy - WAITRESS / WAITER

In this position, you will work under the responsibility of the Maître d'hôtel and take care of mise en place, serving, clearing and settling tables. You will also ensure that the hotel's high level of service is maintained at all times.


Organisation

As employee(s) serving, you will work under the responsibility of the maître d ‘hotel. You will give orders to the buffet and/or kitchen staff.

Purpose

You will sell and serve dishes and drinks.

  • Mise en place.

  • Serving.

  • Clearing.

  • Checkout.

Before the service

Mise en place of the hall:

  • You take care of the cleaning (mastication) of hall equipment or furniture.

  • You arrange tables and chairs.

  • You lay linen.

  • You set the tables.

  • You decorate the room and tables: table decorations, flowers.

You also take care of the mise en place:

  • Of the service equipment.

  • Of the buffet and if necessary you replenish the fridges.

  • For appetisers, desserts and coffee, plus accessories.

During the service

  • You welcome guests.

  • You give menu and drink advice.

  • You explain the composition or preparation of dishes.

  • You take orders, note special requests and pass them on to kitchen.

  • Preparing drinks or giving orders to buffet staff and serving e.g. uncorking, pouring, etc.

  • You adjust the cutlery according to the dishes.

  • Depending on the course of the shift, you give instructions to the kitchen staff for further preparations or finishing touches.

  • Picking up drinks and meals and serving customers (plate service: setting the plate, dishes: portioning and arranging on the plate).

  • You clear the table.

  • You prepare the bill, receive and check the means of payment.

  • You do the mise en place of the table for next guest or the next service.

  • You are always attentive to the guest's needs.

  • You handle complaints.

After the service

  • You clear the tables and do the mise en place for the next shift.

  • You arrange and put away serving equipment.

  • You ensure order and cleanliness in the room, with the exception of thorough cleaning.

  • You participate in the preparation and execution of festivities (e.g. fair), banquets and buffets.

  • You report technical defects to e.g. fridges, coffee machine ...
